Our stance on AI
At Grove Park Primary School, safeguarding our children is at the heart of everything we do. As technology continues to develop, we regularly review our practices to make sure that we are responding appropriately to emerging online safety risks.
One area that is developing rapidly is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-generated or manipulated images. With technology making it increasingly possible for photographs to be copied, altered or used in ways that were not originally intended, we have decided to take an additional precaution when sharing photographs publicly online.
Going forward, we will actively seek to ensure that children's faces are not clearly visible or identifiable in photographs published on our school website.
This does not mean that we will stop sharing the wonderful things that happen at Grove Park. We know how important it is to celebrate our children's learning, achievements and experiences. Instead, we will be more thoughtful about the photographs we use. For example, images may show children:
- from behind or from a distance;
- engaged in learning without their faces being clearly identifiable;
- focusing on their hands, work or activities;
- as part of a wider group or environmental photographs where individuals cannot be clearly identified.
This is a proactive safeguarding measure designed to strengthen the protection we already provide for our children in an increasingly complex digital world. This view will also be reinforced within the school's curriculum with appropriate online safety lessons.
We appreciate your support and understanding as we continue to adapt our safeguarding and online safety practices to keep our children as safe as possible.
