Physical Education
At Bourne Alliance, we aim to promote Physical Education, Physical activity and school sport through our curriculum. Pupils are educated to lead healthy, active lives and remain active for sustained periods of time. Pupils learn to develop physical competence and social skills through physical activity. Pupils are taught how to engage in competitive sports and activities.

P.E. lessons are also an opportunity for children to put into practice one of our key school values : resilience. Mastering physical education provides the skills for pupils to use their bodies efficiently, effectively and promotes the importance of active, fit and healthy lifestyles. We offer a unique learning opportunity and provide an impact on health and emotional wellbeing as well as significantly impacting whole school improvement. Physical education can contribute to physical development, cognitive development and improved social, emotional & mental health.

Outside the curriculum, pupils are provided with opportunities to maintain physical activity through:
- After school clubs
- Inter-community competitions
- Individual virtual competitions
- Cultural capital opportunities (outside of school)
- Categorised competitions are provided through school games and Sittingbourne and Sheppey School Sports Partnership (SSSSP)
In addition, Physical Education is also covered within our school's Forest School. Children enjoy creating their own games and coming up with their own ideas to improve their physical development skills. This may consist of creating their own outdoor games, making their own dumbbell weights, tyre rolling, stick relays, javelin with sticks through hanging targets, digging holes and using a tyre swing.
It is truly amazing to see children choosing to use skills they have learnt during their PE Lessons during their time spent at our Forest School.
